About Mrs. Day

Elizabeth Day holds Professional Certification in Music K-12 from New York State and is a licensed Music Together teacher.  She completed a Master of Arts in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.  Mrs. Day completed Level I certification in Kodaly Methodology from NYU Steinhardt in 2012, and continues to participate in workshops and conferences using methodologies of Kodaly, Orff, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics to inspire and inform her music teaching.

Mrs. Day believes that music learning should be a fun and inspirational experience, while also teaching persistence, tenacity, and self-discipline.  Her philosophy of teaching is to approach teaching music to the whole child-through experiencing music through singing, moving, visualizing, and play.  She emphasizes the importance of being musically literate: understanding pitches, rhythm, dynamics, and articulation.  Her theory is, “If you can sing it, you can play it!”
